Thyagaraja Day Guidelines
We welcome all the participants to SIFA’s 43rd Anniversary Celebration of Saint Thyagaraja. To facilitate a smooth singing session, organizers will STRICTLY adhere to the following rules, which have been modified based on the lessons learned from the last few years and SIFA sponsors feedback. We urge all participants (and teachers) to read the instructions very carefully:
Individual/Group Singing: 11 AM to 5 PM
-
Individual participant/group participants must register online, with the following information: 1)Group or Individual Singing, 2) Participant Name(s), 3) Song and Raga they will sing (Song(s) MUST be composed by Saint Thyagaraja) and 4) Accompanists name(s). Participants who have already provided all the above information do not need to take any further action. Some participants have not provided all the above information. Failure to provide all the information above to ops.sifa@gmail.com by April 6th at 5pm PST will result in cancellation of registration.
-
In the spirit of providing opportunity to as many participants as possible, SIFA strongly discourages the same individual participating in individual and group slots.
-
Registrations received as of April 2nd 10 pm PST have been chosen on a first-come first-serve basis.
-
Preference will be given for sponsors. For non-sponsors, there will be a nominal registration fee of $20 per individual and $50 per group which will be collected while checking in at the venue.
-
No one school will be allowed to occupy the stage for extended periods of time. SIFA’s decision is final and binding. Also, please note the total time limit for any school /teacher is 20 minutes, which can be a combination of group and individual slots. Please make sure you do not register students beyond the total time allowed.
-
For individual participation, a very strict 5 minute time limit will be imposed.
-
Please note that group singing will be restricted to 7 minutes. Only one song is allowed per slot, individual or group.
-
Participation confirmation email provides the time slot for your performance. If participants are unable to attend during the allotted time or participate in the program, please send an email to ops.sifa@gmail.com. This will enable us to accommodate waitlisted participants.
-
Participants are strongly recommended to arrive and check in at least 30 minutes prior to your time slot.
-
Participants are required to stay, no concession will be made for leaving early after you have been allotted a slot. Please understand the goal here is to encourage all participants.
-
Anyone (individual or group) who registers and is not present when their name is called will automatically be placed at the end of the registration list. Based on the past record it is almost impossible for any individual to get a second chance.
-
Raga Alapana, Thanam, Niraval and Kalpana swarams are strictly not permitted.
SIFA’s decision is final and binding. We hope you will all participate and enjoy the age old tradition of celebrating Thyagaraja Day.
